GL’s Turn-A, A build Journal

A few weeks (or maybe months) ago, we went to the Philippine Toy Convention and GhostLightning scored this baby at a reasonable price:

As this is a build journal, I will try to give you the progress of the project itself as it comes to completion.

First step, the prep work needed when building:

1)  Washing the Sprue Trees…

This ensures that the oil residues are removed from each part, getting the kit ready for full painting, should you decide to do so later on.  This also ensures that the paint adheres to the kit properly.

2) Dry them before starting.  Just air it, no need to rush.

3)  Find a good area where you can work if you do not have a workshop and start cutting away.

Now, here we go…

Working on the upper torso:

Here’s the head…

As the current assembly:

That’s all for now…  will post an update as it comes.

Wow. I’m glad I commissioned a pro. I would’ve fucked up from step 1. I feel bad for the kits I’ve already assembled by myself (me and sybilant, actually). Keep it up, I have another project in mind.

nice tips. btw, won’t it be hard to paint after u assemble the parts? or u going to dissemble it and continue the painting?

@ghostlightning… thanks, but I hardly call myself a “pro” just yet. there are still lots of things to learn.

@B-mecha… thanks for dropping by. when assembling any type of kit, it is always best to dry-fit the parts. for gundam kits, however, since it has prongs and it is basically snap on, you would really have to disassemble and reassemble it to be able to identify the areas where you would have to paint prior to assembly. what i usually do is somehow loosen the prongs in preparation for this. :D
